In the arts a Black Swan is something that, contrary to all expectations, becomes a raging success. In publishing circles, an example of a well-known Black Swan is a children’s book written by a single mother on welfare which was rejected by 17 English publishers before it was picked up and became an international sensation. J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books have now sold over 250 million copies worldwide.
Black Swan Manuscript Evaluation & Book Development Services was founded by Nadine Pedersen to help authors write and produce high-quality books. An award-winning journalist and the former editorial and production coordinator for a busy regional publishing company, Nadine regularly received manuscripts from friends and acquaintances who wanted advice on how to improve their writing and publish their books.
Realizing that few authors are ever given concrete feedback from editors when they are rejected by a publishing company, Nadine started her manuscript -evaluation business to provide emerging authors with a venue for receiving constructive editorial feedback and publishing advice.
In response to the growing demand for independent publishing services, Black Swan’s mandate was then expanded to include services for authors wanting to self-publish books.
Black Swan now works with a pool of talented book reviewers, writers, editors, designers and proofreaders to create well written, well edited and elegantly designed books.
